Customer Reviews: Sony geotagger July 20, 2010 Mr T This a really nice and easy to use device. GPS-fix is in daly usage done in <10 s and other <30 s. Built in cardslot is also very neat because you can run the tagging process without a pc (as a MAC-user it is nice since the bundled sw is only for windows). If there had been a MAC sw I'd given it 5 stars.
GPS camera attachment May 26, 2010 Photo fiend (UK) This is a good idea which I have purchased early in its lifetime. It works well with a few niggles that I have suggested to Sony that they modify. One is that it does not run with an Apple machine, but that should be rectified fairly soon, Battery life (as is predicted) is rather low, daily renewal being necessary. After finding its bearings the device seems to work well in a pocket (no direct sky view) and even inside buildings. There is no indication how much of the internal memory is still available, but recent allday positioning over 10 days did not fill the device. Shall eagerly await software improvements from Sony (downloadable?).
Will please the early adopter of tech... January 16, 2010 C. Yick (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Indeed does what it says on the tin. JPG files only, not RAW files, but once fired up, I clip it to my backpack with the provided case and shoot away. Benefits here are obviously, need to wait for a GPS signal when compared to other camera onboard/attached units, size of a pager and you'll always have the exact GPS time. Cons - need to sync GPS time with camera time (make sure you get your timezone correct when travelling); runs on AA battery (pro/con - depending on your intended style of use). Some day, fast GPS units will be attached to all point and shoots / mobile phones. When that day arrives, this won't even be good as a paper weight (a bit light). Till then, it stays strapped to my camera bag!
