It Gets You Where You Want To Go July 9, 2010 P. D. Aitken (London, England) This satnav does work and the voice instructions are generally very good. I think the user manual is shocking and helps very little in using the product. Experimentation appears to be the name of the game. The holder keeps falling off the windscreen. But, in the end, it gets you where you want to go.
TomTom ONE IQ Review June 18, 2010 zib (UK) I found this very easy to use without having to read the instructions and so far its been very reliable. My only issue would be with the fitting which holds the tomtom to the suction fitting which sticks to the window - the tomtom seems to fall off quite easily when I'm trying to secure it in position and it feels like it'd be easily broken by the stiff rotater ball which enables the angle of the tomtom to be set up. Having said that, it hasn't broken and it is preferable to getting lost all the time, although I do find it a bit distracting looking at the screen whilst navigating a roundabout in busy traffic - but maybe that's more about my competence as a driver rather than that of the tomtom!
TomTom ONE IQ June 12, 2010 R. Marfleet (Solihull, UK) Worked straight from the box. Does all it claims. A great piece of equipment, which is also easy to update with the latest road information.
Especially useful when travelling in an area you do not know for alerting you to upcoming speed cameras
Tom Tom has low IQ June 9, 2010 E. Johnston (Northern Ireland) This was my first sat nav. It was easy to set up and to update via my USB port, but was not very useful in practice. Apart from taking me miles out of my way on a route I know well, it cannot deal with busy city traffic and the associated multi-lane non-motorway city roads. It has asked me to turn left, followed by an instruction to turn right across three lanes of busy rush hour traffic, in a space of circa 30 yards, where a lane change in advance of the turn would have been more useful and safer. It has asked me to turn right across a multi-lane road, where no right turn exists. The data displayed on screen differs from that being announced over the speaker - the voice would tell me to make a manouver in a certain distance, whereas the screen would tell me to make the same manouver in a quite different distance. It can cope well getting from town to town and finding rural locations, but is useless in cities, which is where I would want most assistance.
