2 out of 5 stars Better off with a 205W   August 27, 2010
TEB (Yorkshire)
Bought one of these for my wife for starting her new job which involved travelling about; been pleased with the Garmin 255WT I've been using for a couple of years now so I thought this would be similar. Firstly we were disappointed to discover that although advertised by the seller as new in fact the item received was a white box newly overhauled product. Also found the maps were out of date and the 200 had a different keyboard setup to the 255 which made it less straightforward to use. After a couple of months or so of use my wife found that getting a signal was taking progressively longer (not that quick to start with) and occasionally appeared to be failing to get her to the required destination. Ran it alongside the 255 and discovered it was wanting to take a different and inappropriate route even though they had the same route option settings. Contacted the seller who put us onto Garmin support. They agreed to take the 200 in for repair (our cost to post out) and sent us a replacement (presumably NOH again) which turned out to be a 205W. From the short while we have had this replacement it has been much better with up-to-date maps and software and operates exactly the same as the 255. This was our first poor Garmin product but they have dealt with it to our satisfaction. From our brief time with the 200W we would advise going for at least a 205W model or better and beware of receiving white box products when they should be new, wish now we had sent ours back and bought elsewhere.

3 out of 5 stars does the job   July 30, 2010

:)
-Gets you from A to B.
-User friendly - bought it for techo-phobe dad and he managed to figure it out fine.
-Clear maps.
-Nice screen mount.
-OK value for money.

:(
-If you go off route, it tries to get you back on the planned route rather than recalculating a new route from your new position.
-Thinks that a large section of the M1 is a 50 mph zone from about Leicester to Sheffield and so constantly 'dings' at you.
-Picky things: Missing/has extra round-abouts; gives you your ETA, but not the present time; doesn't tell you your speed; voice doesn't automatically get louder with speed.

4 out of 5 stars Good value sat-nav.   July 29, 2010

This refurbished unit seems very easy to use. Easier in fact, than the slightly confusing instructions would have you believe. Only problem seems to be very short (almost none) battery time. Fine when plugged in, but on battery only, full charge symbols start to vanish almost as soon as it is switched on. Perhaps the refurbishment does not include the battery!

Love it, so easy to use and very efficient. Note though it doesn't have a charger for the mains so you probably need to buy one.

5 out of 5 stars Garmin 200W sat nav   June 23, 2010

Received from supplier very quickly, it is a refurbished item but has no marks and lokks as good as new.
Very easy to use you dont even need the enclosed instructions.
Been able to download different voices and even your own or the wife's, and different cars makes it a bit more fun to listen too.
I also downloaded speed cameras at a cost of £19.99 a year but it gives you unlimited updates of course. £20 a year still works out cheaper than half a dozen speeding tickets with cameras positioned every 10 yards in some places.
All in all I would definetly recommend as an easy to use and simple sat nav for your motor, bike and also has a pedestrian setting.Garmin Nuvi 200 Widescreen Satellite Navigation System With UK MappingGarmin Nuvi 200 Widescreen Satellite Navigation System - UK & ROI Mapping, Newly Overhauled
