Used This Great Little Unit To Visit York a Few Days Back, Found the Tom Tom Really Helpful As i would of Never Have Found the Hotel Without it!. Strongly Reccomended Unit. Smart Features Include - Reliable Speed Camera Database, Full Postcode Search, Nearest Places Of interest Eg Fuel, Shops, Hotels etc... And a Handy Where am I Function Which comes in Handy When ur Lost!!!!! Its a very simple and easy unit to setup and update (PC required for this option). As stated in previoud reviews the battery life is a bit poor however for short trips under 2hours long it should be enough to get you past without hunting out the car charger. If Your looking for a sat Nav you can Trust Look No further Than the Tom Tom One.
OK For Mac Users December 20, 2008 Mr. Marcus Anderson (UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Received this item today and I can confirm that it works perfectly on a Mac. I downloaded the latest version of Tomtom Home connected my new TomTom One and it happily downloaded all the updates and new maps without any problems. I don't know if Home has been updated or the actual navigation software but everything worked fine for me. (on an Intel iMac running OSx) The device itself is up to TomTom's usual standard and navigation is prompt and accurate. No it doesn't have some of the more advanced features of more expensive models but then I didn't really want or need them. The screen is quite small, but again I think this is a good thing. The bigger wide screen XL model just takes up more room on your windscreen. There is no SD card slot so there is no way of adding memory but again, I cant see that I will need to. Not planning on using this outside the UK and if I had been then I would have bought the one with European maps. All in all this is a great little unit.
Very good December 14, 2008 D. Snuggs (UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The updates when you go the wrong way are instant. Well, 5 or 6 seconds. If it cannot find an alternative route, it does say 'Turn around when possible'. And this time it is telling the truth. It would be quicker to turn around. It is also very useful for getting to work on time. I have had no problems with this item. Better that most of the fitted Sat-Navs is some of the newer cars. And it covers all of Europe. The only downfall is it uses MS Windows OS. Linux is much faster when setting up a route and recalculating journeys. (Up to 1 second). There is also plenty of information on screen. But I have noticed the speed indicator is about 3mph out. So be careful out there. ;-) I am pleased with it.
Didn't work when I connected to Mac December 13, 2008 mary (ludlow UK) 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
I was so disappointed when I connected this to my Mac. I had downloaded the latest tomtom home version for Mac O SX and so expected no difficulties. On screen instructions told me updates had been installed and to disconnect device and re-connect. All I got was a red flashing X. I could not reboot the satnav or reset it (as there is no reset button) I spent 4 hours trawling the TomTom website - V4 is not even supported! unbelievable. I am returning the satnav for a refund as the experience has left a nasty taste.
Very Pleased November 17, 2008 Mr. T. Jovanovski 38 out of 38 found this review helpful
Have been looking around for a SatNav and compared many web offers. Not knowing what make to choose decided on TomTom and am so glad I did. From opening package to using the device in the car it took 5 minutes (its that easy).Went for the smaller TomTom ONE and not the larger screen XL.This screen works really well not sure why you would need a larger screen.Amazon beat all the rest on price and very fast delivery too, thanks!
