5 out of 5 stars What a Superb piece of Kit   July 28, 2010

It's not often I come upon a gem like this. Have had it about a year and the maps need updating but overall it's been superb value and has excellent functionality.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent product   June 17, 2010

Easy to use, exact directions, the only disadvantage is that it navigates only to UK & Ireland.
i'm afraid that after i will return to my country it will be useless...

4 out of 5 stars Good Purchase   January 3, 2010

I bought this Satnav more than a year ago and am fairly impressed by it's use. I was new to the country(not from EU) and being a foreigner and a new driver added to the dilemma of driving on job. I bought this Satnav for it's price and that I preferred it's display to the counterparts like tom-toms, etc. I have travelled many parts of England in past year and a half with this kit and as long as I know the post code, I have not had any issues driving to the destination. The good thing is it brings you back on track if you take that odd wrong turn, very quickly. The only negative I can find is at times the navigation data doesn't seem to be up to date and there are round-abouts turned into signals and exits that don't exist any more and it does seem to work on old data. Aware drivers who keep an eye on the road and then listen to the instructions must be fine!
Overall, very basic Satnav, looks more impressive than the counterparts and does the job!

This Satnav isnt just woefully useless, its dangerous - you spend so much time looking at it trying to figure out if the instructions its just given are actually correct, or if, like about half the time, its spewing random bull at you - heres a sample; in the space of 10 seconds, on a dead straight main A road through a large town, it said "Continue 1.7 miles straight", 3 seconds later "Turn right" (which happnened to be a graveyard, so no right existed), followed seconds later by "Perform a U-turn". Seriously, dont buy this, its so distracting it will increase your chance of an accident.
After its taken 10 minutes or so on the roof of the car just to find a satellite (a familiar ritual with this piece of.....), it is chronically unable to tell your orientation or exact location. Note to Navman - its supposed to tell where you are & what direction you're heading, and it cant do those things so it cant direct you; fortunately, you can tell when its lost its sense of direction as the map on screen will start spinning like a top, but that is the only warning you get when this GPS (Generally Pointless System) screws up - at first, the duff voice instructions seem trustworthy, and usually even give you directions that tehcnically do exist, (such as "turn left" when there actually is a left to turn too), but which have nothing to do with your destination. You do get used to ignoring it. I started packing an A-Z after I'd used this for a week, it was faster and more accurate. I'm going to get a TomTom in the Xmas sales, had 2 TomTom Ones before and they were good - except that they all seem to be programmed to self-destruct a few days after the warranty expires; I'd rather have that than endless tooth-grinding irritation and the risk of an accident that this atrociously bad system provides.
In case I havent made myself clear......dont buy this.

2 out of 5 stars Navman lasted just over a year!   November 23, 2009

Bought a Navman S30 which failed with a hardware fault after just over 12 months. Just outside of the Warranty Period (for the UK). Functionally it worked fine before it broke down and was very accurate. However, I wanted something that might last at least a couple of years! Won't be buying Navman again.
